Tomato chutney is the most common side dish for idli dosa. Here is a very easy tomato chutney recipe. You can increase or decrease the amount of red chillies that you add to make it more or less spicier. You can add a garlic pod and an inch of ginger piece too. For tempering I have used only mustard seeds but you can also add urad and curry leaves. This chutney can also be spread on bread and toasted with butter which gives you a tangy and spicy bread toast.

- Tomato -2 medium size
- Onion-1 large
- Red chilly-4
- Salt
- Oil-4 tsp
- Mustard seeds -1 tsp
Preparation :
- In a pan heat 2 tsp of oil. Add the red chilly.
- Ad onions and Saute and then the tomato.
- Saute until tomato is cooked.
- Switch off flame and let it cool.
- Add it to a mixie jar, add needed salt and grind smooth.
- Transfer to a bowl.
- In the same pan add two tsp of oil and heat. Add the mustard seeds. Pour this into the chutney.
- Mix and serve with hot idlis or dosa.
