Coconut chutney

There are several ways to make coconut chutney. You can grind coconut with green chilly or with red chilly and groundnut or with roast gram and green chilly. Adding a piece of onion,ginger or garlic are all different styles of making this chutney. Here is one simple coconut chutney recipe. I have added tamarind which is optional but if your adding make sure to add very little otherwise the chutney will become more tangy.

Step by step instructions:
Keep all the ingredients ready

Transfer the coconut chilly onion tamarind and roast gram to a mixie jar

Grind to a smooth paste by adding warm water

Transfer content to a bowl and add the tempering. Serve with hot idlis or dosa. 
Ingredients :
  • Desiccated coconut-1 cup
  • Roast gram-2 tbsp
  • Green chilly-3
  • Onion-1small piece
  • Tamarind-little
  • Salt
For tempering 
  • Oil-1tsp
  • Mustard
  • Urad
  • Curry leaves
 Preparation :
  • Keep all the ingredients ready
